Nixon Medical Kicks-Off Partnership with Boys & Girls Clubs of America with Volunteering Event
November 15, 2018 by Nixon MedicalFollowing a comprehensive search for a charitable organization that aligned with our mission to grow and create opportunities that enrich each other’s life, Nixon Medical kicked-off our partnership with the Boys & Girls Clubs of America (BGCA) on October 26, 2018.
The BGCA enables young people to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens by operating after-school care and summer enrichment programs nationwide. The first event we collaborated on was held at the Clarence Fraim Boys & Girls Club, where 75 kids painted pumpkins and played Bingo with our associates including Cathy Warrin, Kim Brown, Linda Brown, Crystal Barrow, Hayim Weiss, Bryan Storm, Wendy Mical and Tracy Chamblee.
As our first volunteer event of many, this opportunity and strategic partnership will provide all of our associates a chance to volunteer with the BGCA both individually and as a team, fulfilling our quest to provide a vehicle to engage associates in the psychological rewards of philanthropy and to give back to the communities where we do business.
Each of our facilities, which are located in Connecticut, Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Virginia, Massachusetts and Texas, will work with their local BGCA division to engage in volunteer opportunities such as mentoring students, assisting with homework and participating in cleanup projects, among others.
For more than 150 years, Boys & Girls Clubs of America has enabled young people most in need to achieve great futures as productive, caring, responsible citizens. Today, more than 4,300 clubs serve nearly four million young people through club membership and community outreach. Clubs are located in cities, towns, public housing and on Native lands throughout the country, and serve military families in BGCA-affiliated Youth Centers on US military installations worldwide.
The clubs provide a safe place, caring adult mentors, fun and friendship and high-impact youth development programs on a daily basis during critical non-school hours. Club programs promote academic success, good character and citizenship, and healthy lifestyles. In a Harris Survey of alumni, 54 percent said the club saved their lives. BGCA’s national headquarters are located in Atlanta.
